EMBRACING THE WORLD OF EMPLOYER BRAND
#115

THE MAIN SQUEEZE

The 5 Best Prompts for Employer Branding

ChatGPT emerged to the public on November 30th 2022 - it’s almost two years old.

Which, incidentally, is that sweet spot when your human kids start to get really interesting, and your colleagues are only slightly sick of hearing about them.

Safe to say, when it comes to the world’s favourite large language model, no one is done talking about it.

We’ve been through some serious trial and error with the tool — the journey from a cordial, “Hey ChatGPT!’ to the inevitable, “FINE I’ll do it myself” is one we know intimately. But if you can make it past the AI’s “moreovers”, “delvings” and “intricately woven tapestries”, the payoff is 100 percent worth it.

Over the past two years, we’ve collected the very best employer branding prompts we use to do our jobs smarter, quicker, and with minimal desire to commit acts of violence on our keyboards.

So, without further ado, let’s delve into them:

1. Employee sentiment

Use open text responses you’ve collected from employee surveys to quickly assess how employees feel about the organisation.

“Based on the data I’ve given you, name the top reasons people like to work here most, and things they like least about it.”

2. Persona roleplay

Ask ChatGPT to "act as" a specific persona or role by providing details like a name, job title, background info, etc. Then have a back-and-forth conversation with this simulated persona to generate ideas and perspectives from their point of view.

"I want you to create a realistic talent persona. They should be a [data scientist] who works in [machine learning]. They are in their [30s] and have recently [started a family.]"

3. Competitor research

Get ChatGPT to look at your competitors’ career sites and socials. Use the response to understand how you can differentiate.

“Analyse this site [Insert link.] What assertions are being made? Why do people like to work there?”

4. Self-audit

This is the same premise as the above, but will help you consolidate your own current employer brand messaging.

“What are the key messages on my careers site? Can you rate the clarity and impact of each of those messages?”

5. The expert panel

Give ChatGPT a topic and ask it to suggest thought leaders or experts on the subject. Then ask it to "act as" an expert advisory panel while you ask questions and get explanations and recommendations as if consulting top subject matter experts.

“Act as an expert advisory panel on __”

How to get more eyeballs on your job posts (in seconds)

If you want your job postings to reach a wider audience, incorporate variations of the same job title in your descriptions and meta tags.

For example, if you’re hiring a “Customer Success Manager,” include related terms like “Client Success Manager” or “Customer Relations Lead.”

Why? Candidates often search for similar roles under different titles, so this helps you capture traffic from multiple search queries. It’s a quick, low-effort strategy that expands your visibility and attracts more qualified applicants.
